DoubleTree Hotel hot water system rescue in Greenville
A new hotel's water heating system corrected in time for its scheduled opening and ribbon cutting.
The problem
With opening day approaching, the new DoubleTree Hotel on The Parkway could not keep up with hot water demand. The system had been installed incorrectly by the previous plumber, and the scheduled ribbon cutting was at risk.
What we found
We traced the shortfall back to the original installation: the water supply to the heater bank and the venting were not done right, and the tanks were not storing water hot enough to meet a full hotel's demand.
What we did
We rebuilt the system the right way:
- Re-plumbed the water supply to the bank of water heaters.
- Corrected the venting for safe, proper operation.
- Raised tank storage temperatures to increase usable hot water capacity.
- Installed a Symmons thermostatic mixing valve so guests get water at a safe, consistent delivery temperature.
The result
The hotel opened on schedule. Pinnacle Partnership avoided delaying the ribbon cutting, and the hotel now has ample hot water at a safe, consistent temperature.
