Three-bathroom PEX repipe in Greenville
Water supply lines replaced with PEX for a three-bathroom home, with new shower valves.
The problem
This three-bathroom Greenville home needed new water supply lines throughout, along with new valves for the showers.
What we did
- Opened small access points in the walls and ceilings
- Ran new red and blue PEX supply lines to every fixture
- Roughed in new shower valves
- Installed new shower and tub trim
The result
Every fixture in the house now runs on new PEX supply lines, and the showers have new valves and trim. The work was done through small access points in the walls and ceilings instead of opening whole walls.
Questions about this job
PEX or copper: which is better for a repipe?
Both are good pipe. PEX is flexible, so it can be pulled through walls with small access openings instead of opening whole walls, and it usually costs less than copper. We give a written price for each option before work starts.
Why are the PEX lines red and blue?
The colors mark hot (red) and cold (blue) so the lines are easy to trace later. The pipe itself is the same.
How do I know if my house needs repiping?
Leaks that keep coming back, rusty or discolored water, low pressure throughout the house, galvanized steel or polybutylene pipe, and visible corrosion on exposed pipes. One leak is a repair. Leak after leak usually means the pipe has reached the end of its life. See whole-home repiping.
